People don't know how to disagree anymore without becoming extremely hostile and hateful, especially online. Some will completely write you off as a human being simply because you didn't share the same take as theirs. And to be clear, I'm not referring to blatantly insensitive, cruel takes, like some of the recent viral videos that have been circulating. I mean takes that simply differ from the majority. Suddenly, it's open season to talk about your family, whom they've never met in their lives. It's really bizarre; I've noticed this over the years. What happened to 'I disagree, but that's okay everyone has a right to their own opinion'? Nope, instead, it's 'you're a horrible person, you're this or that,' and people sleep completely fine at night after treating someone like that. I'll never understand it.
