It would make more sense if they said it’s because she isn’t physically strong enough to use a full sword comfortably. Y’know, maintaining a sustainable and effective pace while still being precise enough to cut a demon’s neck in the fight.

It’s mentioned that she’s short and physical weak so she most likely not able to hold or use a katana I’m pretty sure that’s why hers is missing most of the blade and used for thrusting (not hating but I’m pretty sure this is the cannon reason why or mostly)
