Day 11 - Sunday, October 12 Today we travel from Daleville, Virginia to Smyrna, Tennessee. We started the morning out with a devotion and communion led by the preacher and his wife. The prayer included a thank you for sparing us from a traffic accident the night before. It was the only near mishap that we had the entire trip. I spent some time with the preachers at the monastery. He’s retired from the Methodist Church. They are both super sweet. Most every morning when I come down for breakfast the preacher is joyfully whistling a tune. If you know me, you know. Today’s excursion was supposed to be at the William King Museum of Art. Lucy tried to talk Fred into going back Rhode Island while I was rooting for Nashville and the Grand Old Opery. Fred should be glad we are going through Nashville this week instead of next or I would have been leading a mutiny to go see Brandon Lake. We opted for the Virginia Cultural Center. It was a nice stop and of course Thelma and Louise found something to bring home. Fred told them he hoped it was pillows because they would be holding it all the way home. I enjoyed some time soaking up the fresh mountain air and visiting with Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty and others at the outside campfire. I fell in love with the mountains in Virginia and Tennessee. We stopped at a Pilot for bathroom breaks and lunch where they had a Sbarro with a big sign that said New York Pizza. 🍕 I got some New York pizza in Vermont. I wanted go across the parking lot to take scenic pictures but Fred said I better not because someone might think I’m a lot lizard. #Virginia#smokymountains#
