As a woman traveling alone, there is no way I would stay in a remote area, with no one around. The fact that she fell asleep after the first.(weird) interaction, blows my mind.

Always keep the dead bolt on the door! Anyone from the front desk, housekeeping, or engineering have universal room keys. A lot of hotels will just hire anyone as well.
