We need to start holding Businesses responsible if payment machines are tampered with or chip readers are found at their stores. All places are now aware of this danger so managers SHOULD be responsible for monitoring their machines regularly, safeguarding customers information, it's the cost of doing business just like they had to check cash for fake currency as well, if they don't start taking accountability customers will start thinking it's the staff/stores putting them there or their complicit to make extra side money. During covid I had a taxi driver tell me to not use the debit machines in taxis 😶 he said was solicited by a passenger to put a chip reader in his taxi on the debit machine he said no and booted him from his car, but the driver told me if he was solicited that other drivers or businesses would be too and he's not certain others would turn down $600+ cash weekly for doing nothing but looking the other way when they come back to swap it 😶 so he told me it was best to use cash 😶 desperate times.

It’s to stop you using the contactless option ,it blocks signal so you then insert your card and pin and the reader saves your info
