Millennial here was told to go to college no matter what and you’ll be ok and parents took out loans in our name without even teaching basic math of interest 🤦🏼♀

as a younger millennial, the real secret is to never listen to genx or boomers about anything. ever.

"I'll try graphic design" - you won't make a living
"I'll try admin" - it's an oversaturated market.
"I'll do UX/UI design" - too many doing it.
"I'll do business" - everyone does that.
FUCK DO I DO

They told us millennials to go to college just for them to turn around and say we should have learned a trade

those skills are still valuable and transferable tbh. still better than many other fields that don't teach math and problem solving. I always intended on doing CS and am now doing just as well in engineering.

Too many people joined for money instead of actually liking technology. If you actually like it the job market is good. I’m always getting recruiting calls

and then they’re like “well um you should’ve looked at what jobs were in demand when you started college 🤓🤓” YEAH THOSE JOBS WERE IN DEMAND BACK THEN

it's pretty crazy to think that it we were born just 10 years earlier, we'd be able to get jobs for our degrees easily directly out of college

Canon event: the advice you get in hs/university for your career is already outdated by 10+ years. Also soft westerners learning anything to do with coding or engineering have no idea how competitive fireigners have been conditioned to be in those fields.

Coding is still important…we will be in a world full of machines and it’s important to know how to talk to them, how to interact with it. You can’t always rely on an AI model…

They don’t have projects. I’m in tech and people with projects, internships, etc are doing great. It’s the ppl with only a degree to show, everyone has a degree they need to see what you’ve done

I clocked it since Obama’s Learn to Code campaign. They wanted us to code so bad, little me wondered why. Then I heard coders were paid really well and it made sense. They wanted to over saturate the market so that they don’t have to pay them as high anymore. Look where we are now. I feel bad for my cs friends
