Wasn’t her point all about being openminded and being able to coexist with closeminded people? Whether it’s friends or family, not everyone’s going to share your beliefs but completely cutting them off doesn’t change anything. Sometimes staying connected, even when you disagree, gives you a chance to influence their perspective or at least show what acceptance actually looks like.
