Not only that, but shaming people for what they use their SNAP/EBT on. The amount of times I see people saying “they shouldn’t be buying soda or cake mixes” like ok God forbid someone enjoys a treat or makes a birthday cake damn chill

Poverty is such a dehumanizing experience. I don’t even feel like a person anymore. I feel like I’m just a “thing” to the world around me. I don’t want to be chronically ill, homeless, etc. Seeing all the hatred just makes me feel so much worse.

Me and my family were on it for a while while my husband was in between jobs. Even when he started a better job we still needed it now that we don’t have it is tight so it gets everyone

Same. I am disabled and also now rely on my SNAP to survive. I’m only 1 person but there are so many families and children that cannot survive without SNAP benefits.

When my husband lost his job, we couldn't get by on my income alone. We had to go on assistant until he found one a few months later. Food should not be political or a privilege. No shame in taking help when you need it.

Just started on snap for the first time as an adult because the job market is atrocious right now. No shame. I don’t get why people are looked down for using it. We should be looking down on the government for making us get to this point.

I was on SNAP in my 20’s. people who are judging how people get these benefits have NEVER KNOWN HUNGER! It’s so evil to even try to shame someone for getting food!!!

I grew up on food stamps! My mom became disabled and my sister had to take care of me along with her kids. She work two jobs sometimes just to make sure we have it all! Food stamps really helped our household!

I volunteer at the YMCA food bank delivering groceries to peoples homes. MANY are children whose guardians are grandparents, some their parents have become disabled from diseases like MS or cancer. They are trying to dehumanize because the truth HURTS.

People often forget we pay into a system so it's there when we need it. It's not free food, those are our tax dollars! Most people work most of their lives. So needing help at certain times should be there. 👌
