Thank you so much for this video. Eren Jaeger is much deeper than the majority of the Fandom sees him as. He's a wonderful character, broken and tragic in so many ways. This show is amazing at showcasing the awful pain in death, and the horrors of war. I love listening to you by the way!

The parallels between Gabi and Eren are more important than people give credit to, Gabi is guided out of the forest, Eren is a traumatized child soldier who's anger and hatred it is continuously validated, pushing him deeper into it. Of course he had a violent solution, his entire life is defined by brutality. Your perspectives and undestanding of this show have been a breath of fresh air, it's not a perfect narrative, and i believe the author even expressed regret at not being clear enough in the messaging because so many people misunderstood the point, but it's maddening the way people just ignore lines and lines of dialog because they want to validate their own horrendous idealogy. (sorry for the novel, I can talk about this show for hours)

When I first watched aot I was ten and the scene where pixie said that the only time humanity would come to unite only under a common enemy(or it was along that line), it stuck with me. I remembering i could only imagined that that’s the only way I could see the trajectory of eren and the show going. I thought it would be him becoming that “enemy” while the world and his friends are forced to unite to stop him but i never imagined it to be to that extend(i could get deeper into this omg) It also brings me be back to Erwin’s question “who do you think is the real enemy?”. Because personally I don’t believe it was eren all along or even humanity itself but it’s the cycle. The cycle of pain, revenge and war(or even simply the cycle of life that we saw in mikasa’s childhood where the butterfly was getting eaten) the cycle that even after their story ended repeated itself. It is the cycle that made characters like flock believe their suffering justified the suffering of the world.

eren telling ymir that she has a choice and she’s not a god or a demon and that she doesn’t have to bend to others’ will anymore it felt he like was trying to reassure his younger self, the self that was propped up as humanity’s savior… as much as I cant justify the rumbling, I felt for him so hard.
