Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez does not need to waste her time debating someone who has no political experience or a legitimate political position. Riley Gaines is trying to be someone of relevancy to get noticed . Gaines got a BS in health sciences at the University of Kentucky and did not further her education to become a dentist as that was her goal. She is a political activist that spends all of her time defending women's sports from transgender women. She has supported Ran Paul. She appeared in campaign advertisements supporting republican Herschel Walker and spoken at a Trump rally. She visited the San Francisco State University in 2023 to support Turning Point USA to speak out about transgender women in sports. After the event concluded, protesters arrived. Gaines was escorted by law enforcement officers to shelter in a classroom, where she stayed for three hours while protesters continued to demonstrate outside. Gaines endorsed Republican Ron DeSantis. After the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania, Gaines expressed her support for Trump's candidacy. In July 2024, Gaines spoke at the Republican National Convention in support of Trump. In June 2025, gymnast Simone Biles made a social media post on X calling Gaines "truly sick" and a "straight up sore loser" due to her advocacy against the participation of trans women in women's sports. Biles wrote that Gaines should "bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male." An August 2025 profile in The New York Times noted that Gaines's activism often includes publicly targeting and insulting transgender individuals, including teenage athletes, on social media to her 1.5 million followers. AOC politician / activist has a stellar academic background along with extensive political experience. A BA with a double major in International Relations and Economics combines political science with economic principles to analyze global issues. She came in second in the microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering in 2007 with a research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Her list of achievements is extensive.
