Hi everyone — I hope it’s alright to share something respectfully for community awareness.
I recently had a personal experience involving Joel Runnels, who currently holds the position of Director of Legislative Affairs at the Minnesota Council on Disability (MCD). My experience involved emotional harm and deception in a private context, and it happened during the same time he was already representing the organization.
I am not here to attack or defame anyone.
My intention is simply to bring awareness to something that matters for all of us:
When someone is speaking on behalf of the public — especially in advocacy roles — personal integrity and accountability are not just private matters. They reflect on the trust we place in our institutions.
The Minnesota Council on Disability is funded in part by taxpayers and donors who care about ethical public leadership. Communities deserve to feel confident that the people representing them carry the values they stand for.
I want to share this calmly and respectfully, because I believe we all benefit when we look closely at:
The character of those in public advocacy roles
How organizations respond to concerns
How integrity shapes public trust
Thank you for taking a moment to read this.
Awareness leads to stronger communities.
