this is wrong she coats her blade in poison because her sword sheath is coated in it so every time she puts her sword in it's sheath it gets a fresh coat it's most likely that the poison is in the hand guard and twisting it somehow opens gaps that leak poison into the sheath (I've thought about it a lot and this was the only real life way to explain it I've found so far)
