I’m like this idea a lot. When writing a micro series, do you approach the structure any differently?

Yes yes yes 🔥. I think you’re spot on. Watching Star Wars visions has me thinking a lot about how good a 4-6 episode “Bothans” series by studio trigger or another studio could be. Despite how much I enjoy anthologies as a super fan I think more normal fans tune into scattered anthologies less because like you say it doesn’t expand the myth. It functions more like a safe “what if” series.

I have honestly been thinking about this as well; especially when you have long running franchises about street racing that are losing their steam in theaters. You can reignite that love with a Peacock original series. 👀👀👀

I agree to an extent, but *too much content* is actually bad. I do agree small scale content is the future, but it needs to be worked out what the path to monetization is. It could be like subscriptions like a podcast maybe, but I don’t know. I worked on a video game franchise that did quarterly DLC / seasons, and all it did was open up more criticism and demand for even more, which was unsustainable and actually led to a higher burn rate of finances internally. It also lead to people having the sentiment that they could skip out on the big ticket releases because they felt like if they missed it, they could just catch up in a couple months with the smaller content. So, I hear you — but it has a long way to go and most of it has to do with how it can actually make a ton of money for people involved. People like exclusivity and curated rarity a lot more than they know how to articulate. Think of it this way — kids get more excited for Christmas because there’s a build up to it once per year, but if it was every month it wouldn’t be as exciting. Same with something like the Super Bowl. It really just depends and the entire point of my long comment is that I’m down to workshop it and figure out how it can actually be profitable. I’m actively working on four short films right now within a specific genre and themes because I do totally believe short content is the future.
