Meet Beverley Frederick. "Lose the fear, that gives you so much freedom.”
Do you believe in vampires? Not the brooding, lovesick creatures of Hollywood, but the real thing—ravenous, merciless, lurking in the blackest recesses of human fear. In Transylvania, where mist clings to the hills like the breath of something unseen, Bran Castle stands sentinel, its jagged towers stabbing the sky. This fortress, perched atop a crag like a bird of prey, is forever shackled to the legend of Count Dracula. Bram Stoker never set foot here, yet his shadow lingers in every stone, in every whisper of wind through the battlements. Stoker’s Dracula, a specter woven from nightmares and history, was born from the atrocities of Vlad III Dracula—Vlad the Impaler—a ruler whose cruelty dripped from his sword like the blood of his enemies. No fictional monster, but flesh and steel, he lined the roads with impaled corpses as a warning to challengers. Did he drink their blood? No. But fear—raw and visceral—is a more potent elixir than any fairy-tale thirst for crimson. He was imprisoned here once, a caged beast in a stone labyrinth, and even now, the walls seem to hum with his malice. Darker still are the whispers of the strigoi—the restless, unshriven dead. To the villagers, these were not myths but truths as old as the Carpathians. They believed the dead could rise, slipping from their graves, hollow-eyed and insatiable, draining life under the cover of night. Superstition? Or something older, something primal, slithering just beneath the surface of what we think we know? The night is long, the wind howls through the firs—so tell me, what do you believe?
