We desperately need to get rid of the electoral college. People vote, not land. And we need ranked choice voting with more progressive candidates

This is not democracy. This also isn’t a republic or whatever else it is you try to call it to pretend it’s not democracy. Follow the lead of places that have proper rules around districts

So adding 5 more seats to Texas is an increase tax burden on taxpayers. Each member can hire up to 18 full-time staff and three part-time staff. 5 seats will cost taxpayers approximately $9 million a year, just for salaries. Each member has an allowance each year to cover official expenses, averaging 2 million each year, total an additional $10 million. imagine the increased taxes, when more and more states decide to redistrict. When will it end?

you forgot Louisiana. we were forced to redistrict a couple of years ago, adding a 2nd majority Black district. but now the Republicans are suing to get rid of that district. but were so close to the midterms that they want to push back the 2026 elections so they can rid of the new district before elections.

Also should mention that the supreme court has allowed this egregious gerrymandering along racial lines because repubs have argued they are merely gerrymandering along party lines, which the court said was fine. No reflection into why minorities dont feel represented by the repub party, or why the court thinks the racial/party lines distinction is salient

Ohio legally has to… AGAIN. and they are dragging it out… AGAIN… so they won’t have to do it before the November election. The Dems in Ohio came up with a map that have R’s 8 seats and D’s 7- which is pretty fair as far as our voters go. R’s will not pass it because they want one that favors them more, which is important to note because THAT’S ALREADY THE REASON THEY HAVE TO REDRAW THE LAST ONE, and the one before that; and the one before that. Love it here!
