@chefcarmm: 🍓*SAVE*🍓strawberry rhubarb pie the perfect dessert for fall 🍂easy recipe 👇🏽 Pie filling ingredients 🛒 •1 c granulated white sugar •2 1/2 c halved strawberries •2 c chopped rhubarb in 1/4 inch slices •1/2 c sifted AP flour •2 tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice •3 tbsp butter (to add when building the pie) •2 tsp granulated white sugar (to add when building the pie) Pie filling instructions 🥧 💧Cut off strawberry tops. Soak strawberries in a bowl with 1/3 c white vinegar & 4 c cold water for 20mins. Rinse w/cold water then dry w/dish towel. *This will remove bacteria + dirt* 🔪Slice strawberries in half & set aside. ✅ De-thread rhubarb, wash w/cold water, & chop into 1/4 inch pieces. Set aside. 🥣 Add to a mixing bowl 1/2 c sifted AP flour & 1 c white granulated sugar. Combine together w/spoon. 🍓Next add to mixing bowl 2 1/2 c strawberries & 2 c rhubarb, & mix together w/spoon. 🍊Drizzle into mixing bowl 2 tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice & mix. Cover w/foil or plastic wrap + let mixture sit for 30mins. Now let’s make the pie crust… Pie crust ingredients & recipe 🛒👇🏽 •2 c AP flour •3/4 tsp salt •3/4 c cold Crisco •8 tbsp ice cold water 🔥Pre heat oven to 425*F. 🧂Combine together w/a spoon, 2 c AP flour & 3/4 tsp salt. Add to mixture 3/4 c cold Crisco cubes, then cut Crisco into mixture w/a pastry blender or fork until shortening pieces are the size of peas. 💧Gradually add 8 tbsp ice cold water to flour mixture, & gently use pastry blender until dough forms. 🥶Use your hands to create one ball of dough. Then divide dough in half & shape into two balls for double crust pie. Wrap individual doughs in plastic & chill in refrigerator for 30mins. 🌸After 30mins of chilling dough, lightly flour surface area & roll out dough from center outward. Roll dough into an 11 inch circle. Repeat w/2nd dough. 🍭Grab a pie dish & place dough inside. Use a fork to pierce the bottom of the dough. Sprinkle a 1/2 tsp white granulated sugar on dough. 🧈Pour into unbaked pie dough fruit mixture. Add 3 tbsp cold cubed butter. Sprinkle 1 tsp white granulated sugar. 🥧Grab 2nd pie dough & cover pie. Use your thumb around the perimeter of the pie dough to enclose the pie crust. 🥚Whisk 1 egg in a small bowl. Use a baking brush to add some egg to top of pie. This will give a gorgeous color to your pie 😋 🔪Make 4 slits on top of the pie crust w/knife in 4 areas. Then sprinkle 1/2 tsp white granulated sugar to top of pie. ⏰Place pie dish on top of baking sheet. Bake at 425*F for 15mins. Then turn oven to 350*F & bake pie for 40mins. 🤍Remove from oven. Let cool.
