For the oil & gas part. Mostly We don't use oil we produce. Malaysia has always purchased gases for domestic use. Oil from Malaysia is of very high quality which are sold & oil of basic quality are purchased for domestic use.

first, people don’t understand that petronas has been importing lng from around the world for years to diversify its lng production to meet its demand. plus, malaysia is moving towards net importer due to our natural reserves is dropping significantly. as malaysia is expanding rapidly in AI industry which will require more usage of lng, our local demand has far exceeded what we can produce locally. Second, the entire 1 trillion worth of purchased goods are for high tech equipment necessary for AI development and data centre. what does this means? it means malaysia is now moving up its ranks in semiconductor from being just doing the packaging and testing to actually designing the chip itself. without the access of this high technology, malaysia will forever stuck at the lower end of the semiconductor manufacturing process. lastly, we are getting tariff exemption on our critical industries such as pharmaceutical, palm oil, rubber and semiconductor industries. these exemptions are necessary as malaysia is still heavily reliant to our commodities. with tariffs exemption on palm oil for example, it makes our palm oil more attractive to us market than indonesia which in the end increases the export volume of our palm oil.

Hmm.. Msia investing in US capital funds are a loss? It'll probably be more gains in the near future.. And buying all those products like planes, poultry, meat, technology, etc are not what we need for our economy? (with the exception of oil & gas). Unless we are a self-sufficient country, no one country can survive without trade relations, even China. So, how can it be categorized as being robbed? "robbed" is such a non neutral word.. 🤔

I wonder why many people get confused who actually buying the products. not our government but the company in Malaysia. if Malaysia buying all those, where they keep it?
in fact, MAS is the one buying airplane. and the Data center parts of course bought by the Microsoft data center that built here. Malaysia is buying those products doesn't mean Malaysia government spending money to buy them, but the companies in the country buy them.

If U change government u must still honour the deal 🙄 imagine every country going back on their word after a change of government then there’s no point sending a 10 year agreement lol

the agreement is not worth the paper it was signed on. trump (by default his entire administration) changes his mind all the time and will tear off the same contract when he fancies it. just look at how many tariff changes he made since he came to power. his treasury secretary admitted this as much - their imports dept having a difficult time keeping their records as a result of constant changes. it's just a show which will keep on running until trump's terms ends.

This is a trade deal, not a government procurement deal. The “we” who are doing the trade are the businesses in Malaysia, not the government. The items committed by the Malaysian companies are items that they are buying anyway.
