I completely understand this guy. I once saw a cow getting butchered. Like seeing it if you are not used to it makes you feel uncomfortable inside.

As someone who was present and assisted in preparing and cleaning chickens I can tell you that process stucks with you for a week or two. It is something that needs to be done but yeah it will leave impact on you first time you see it.

the guy is right, there is a difference between eating a bought part of a chicken and seeing a chicken being actively unalived , and not all people ate mentally prepared to see that and it's OK

Don't be quick to judge on the guy's apparent weakness. there's a range of empathy spectrum. Some people can feel almost the same physical pain when seeing someone else's injury. and some people are numb towards it. I'm not talking about moral. it's a psychological thing. just like phobia of height or enclosed space. it's not a switch they can simply turn off.

Some people have a big heart and don’t like seeing things like that. I personally understand how we get chicken and steak and all that, but I don’t wanna see it in the process.

This just reminds me of the time my class was visiting a pig slaughter factory (i studied marketing and we were supposed to learn about the business side of it all) and they decided to give us a tour of the factory. A tour that includes being able to see the pigs getting killed. I had explicitly stated that i wanted a warning before hand. Right outside the slaughter room there was a glass window down to their storage area where they had groups of pigs in small rooms with moveable walls and they were slowly forcing each group into the slaughter room and it just looked horrible. Then the guide warned us before we went into the next room that if we didnt want to see it to just look at the floor. I did but i could hear all the pigs squealing (probably not from getting killed, im aware. Probably the ones down in storage because pigs squeal a lot) but i just couldnt stop imagining how scared they must be and how horrible it must be to get killed like that so i held my ears and started bawling loudly and screaming. I was frozen in fear and they had to escort me out. Afterwards the guide said "oh so someone is probably vegan now" the absolute DISRESPECT. And the whole time throughout the tour as sliced up pigs were moving on conveyors beside us he had kept talking about money. Money money money. All he saw in those animals were profit. "We can sell the whole pig! Even the feet get sold to china!" I mean im happy atleast nothing goes to waste. But i just cannot empathize with someone like that. Where is his humanity.

I grew up on a farm. if someone killed and animal with no warning, I'd be traumatised too.
