@rapdaily: Skrilla’s “Doot Doot (6 7)” has earned him Dictionary.com’s 2025 Word of the Year award, beating out worthy contenders such as “aura farming,” “tariff” and “tradwife.” Since “6 7” isn’t technically a single word, the award may lead to some level of analysis by Boomers and curious parents wondering why people are having so much fun with cardinal numbers and hand gestures. “It just represents my brain,” Skrilla told Genius in a recent interview. “[It’s] like what comes up in my head.” While a young rapper from the Philadelphia area winning the Dictionary.com 2025 Word of the Year award represents just how impactful Hip-Hop culture can be, “Doot Doot (6 7)” owes part of its success to the virality that comes with social media. Skrilla himself said he leaked the song via his Instagram account. Teen basketball player Taylen “TK” Kinney also helped the trend break out. Add in some LaMelo Ball-centric TikTok clips (the Charlotte Hornets point guard’s height is listed as 6’7”), and Skrilla’s track has become as ubiquitous as previous generations saw dabbing or a picture of Michael Jordan crying. “It’s part inside joke, part social signal and part performance,” said Steve Johnson of Dictionary Media Group via press release. “When people say it, they’re not just repeating a meme; they’re shouting a feeling.” The 6 7 meme made its way to an episode of ‘South Park,’ which didn’t go unnoticed by the song’s creator. “6 7 on South Park? That’s crazy,” Skrilla added. “I grew up watching ‘South Park.’ I don’t even know the words for it though…That sh-t is like, ‘Damn’.”
