silicon, glass, fibreglass, steel, concrete, none of which is renewable and needs to be replaced every 30 years (extremely conserestimate estimate) coal plants last hundreds of years and don’t even produce pollution anymore

yes at current rate of green energy deployment won't fill the gaps till way past 2040 and by then more than half of the wind will need replacing

Coalition in power for 10 years. Did nothing to progress nuclear. They had their chance and decided to pay their coal mine mates

Tehan is misinformed. Neither Nuscale, Westinghouse nor GE are anywhere close to a practical SMR. The answer to backstopping renewables is gas, but we need a domestic reservation policy.

Who said that nuclear is the future?
Nuclear is 4-6 times more expensive than renewables. The Coalition are also counting on a 25% reduction in energy use.
We had the nuclear discussion before the last election, it's time to move on.

Fortunately renewables have been widely installed no thanks to the lnp who are quite happy to exploit their power while demonising eco energy.

keep calling the. renewables when they require non renewable materials to produce, we keep talking about nuclear because its the cleanest and the safest form of energy production, the. you bring up the cost, well coal is the cheapest cost was never your issue

how much do they pay you to shill for the party who said they would save us $275 then doubled our power bills, whilst giving hundreds of billions of gas and coal to foreign companies FOR FREE, which is obviously burned in the same atmosphere anyway 😡😡😡

It’s the same question with renewables though but on an ongoing basis - what keeps the lights on?

How much carbon dioxide is in the world atmosphere ? 0.04%. And how much is man made? We don’t have a Climate Crisis. It’s all a HOAX.

You are absolutely so uninformed about so many things. It’s hard to know where to start. First of all, why do you believe that we’re going to roll out all this renewable energy and it’s actually going to work? Have a look at countries with higher renewable penetration and their cost of electricity is sky high. If you want to see some academic work on what a combined renewable nuclear grid looks like go to. U tube and search for Effect of Nuclear Energy on Total System Electricity Costs. And then u tube for Rainforest Reserves Australia Renewables in the right place. Why talk to some back bench MP

China has 33 nuclear power plants under construction and is also planning for many more, representing about half of all reactors being built globally. The country is rapidly expanding its nuclear industry, with a goal of building an average of 6 to 8 new plants per year for the foreseeable future.

I think you are overly negative toward nuclear and far too optimistic about solar and wind. Go and watch some of Aiden Morrison YT videos and his interviews with John Anderson ex Deputy PM.

A sensible and progressive government that has not been bought out by the WEF/Israel would keep all coal plants running, open a few more, then transition into Nuclear. This would be awesome for Australia.
