@modhippiehabits: Food has always been a huge part of my life. I love to make it, I love to share it, it’s even my job, and I work with volunteer and charitable organizations that revolve around it. So with millions of people, and millions of children, about to lose access to food I’ve been emotional. Sad, angry, ashamed- there is no world in which it is EVER okay to have a single person go hungry when this country is surrounded by so much wealth. I see arguments saying that people are scamming the system, but in my opinion, let them. I’d rather feed someone who doesn’t need the help than let a single child go hungry. So I spend a lot of time this week looking up the needs at my county’s food bank and matching those needs to the best sales at supermarkets so I could get the most I could from the budget I’d set. Places like @King Soopers and @Safeway had incredible 10/$10 sales, clippable coupons, and every day deals that helped fill 7 boxes and two bags full of food. An extra 5 or ten dollars can make such a difference! When I dropped that food off at the food bank this morning there was a line of people, in 35° weather, wrapped around the building. Our neighbors need our help. So, if you’re capable of donating, of volunteering, of sharing resources, or even sharing words of comfort, I implore you to help, or ASK for help if you need it!
