Does this strategy apply in the UK? The UK has different tax laws, so trusts may not shield your family from getting ripped off by the govt. Plus there are trust fees to consider.

In the UK they will take your house to pay for your care, if you need care. If you have no assets your care is taken care of by the government. If you can afford to put everything in trust they can't take your home.
