Same with FIP. We still have vets in our area that don’t even tell patients about treatment. They just tell them that it’s fatal. Yes, it is expensive, but let them make that decision!

30 years in pediatric medicine RN I always said every Dr can not k ow everything about every disease. A good Dr is one who will either research or send you to a specialist if it’s over there head. Most won’t admit it though.

I had a vet tell me mold doesn't affect cats. Guess who has a kitty with mold triggered asthma. So many vets seem to have no knowledge of cats beyond the absolute basics

Yes I got in a major argument with my previous vet who euthanized one of our recent adoptions without any blood testing or anything! She refused to read the studies on the new FIV medicine or anything else about it! I’m still so mad

yrs ago I had a sick kitty come back with a positive test, the vet wanted to euthanize, I told them no, I got some medicine, treat them at home. later after I nursed him back, he was retested and it came back negative, they retested 3x too. I definitely didn't see her again!

When I rescued my cat Sky she tested positive for FIV and the Vet said it would be best to euthanize her. I took my girl home and never went back to that Vet. Sky is now 5 years old and is living her best life 🥰

we use to use a vet that since was bought out by a corporation, are they are horrible, what I don't understand is that most of the personal hasn't changed we have move to a private owned vet since , much better

I'm so happy that after almost a year on the waiting list, we got a spot at the last small local vet in our area. Everything else got bought up by a chain that jacked all the prices up.

Can you give us some more examples? I can’t seem to find a vet that really does anything for my cats other than tell me to change their food due to allergies. I feel like it’s a big waste of time and money . A lot of money and the result is the same . Nothing gets fixed. To me I haven’t went to a vet that really cares about the animal just trying to sell product and take your money .

I swapped my babies to a cat specific vet and it’s soooo much better. and the cats are much calmer without dogs and birds around too

Omg don’t get me started on vets talking about FIV ughhhhhh. I can’t believe vets still say this. My husband almost didn’t want to keep the stray we found because he was FIV+ and we had cats at home and the vet saying it was dangerous for our FIV- cats 🙄😒

The vet who did the ultrasound that showed my cat had terminal cancer kept referring to her as “it” when telling me the results. It was horrifying, it’s hard to find a good vet, especially a good cat vet

It's hard to avoid corporate vet clinics in L.A. Fortunately, we have a terrific cat-only vet; but she's close to retirement. Not sure what our nine foster fails will do when that day comes. 🙁

I had a cat that was vaccinated for FIV back in the day when the vax was still a core vax (she was vaxxed from 2006 to 2014) I had a vet test my cat for FIV without my knowledge or consent then make a fuss about her testing positive. I asked if it's just a false positive since she used to get vaccinated (she tested false positive since her first dose) and the vet told me the FIV vax doesn't exist and never existed. I told her it's in my cat's medical file. I had to stop coming to the clinic because I "embarrassed" this vet even tho there were other vets there that I liked 😩
