nobody ever openly talks about the feeling of relief after a chronically ill and suffering parent dies. I felt SO painfully guilty for having these thoughts and yearning for my "normal" to come back along with it. I'm sure you will hit that phase and I just wanted to let you know how valid and normal and ok and real it all is. also don't forget, you aren't just mourning your mum, you're mourning who you were before all of this too. give yourself grace, elz. take care ❤️❤️❤

Got here from Ollie the dog - I worked at IBM the same time as you and I love the career you’ve made for yourself. My dad passed away from cancer when I was 11 and I still think about him all the time, how you’re feeling is totally normal. Please give yourself grace and it may not be linear but gradually I promise you, you will begin to feel more like you ❤️sending strength

Death of a parent, and grieving them whilst they are still alive, changes you. I’m not the same person as I was before my dad passed from cancer. Life looks different, grief is strange, and it’s not something you’ll ever get over - and I don’t think you ever would want to. Everyone processes it in their own ways, look after yourself and surround yourself with people who lift you up when the world feels heavy & are there for you, no matter what you’re feeling. Always here if you ever want a chat, rant or just a shoulder to cry on from someone who understands this kind of pain. Sending you so so much love my girl 🖤

Been 10 years since my dad passed , the pain is still the same day 1 to now , it’s about remembering the good times while they were here rather than dwelling on the fact they aren’t anymore , stay strong

lost my mum to cancer, coming home that night was like walking into somebody else’s life. took me a decade to get myself right. lost my dad a few years ago, that completely untethered me from the world. nobody can fully know what you’re going through, it’s a personal journey. hope your new job gives you something to channel your energy into

My dad once said to me after we lost my gran that ‘the world stayed the same she just wasn’t there anymore’ and it’s exactly how I felt when I lost my dad. Grieving is so strange, where you said it doesn’t feel real is exactly how it hit me.

I lost my mum to cancer and it will be a year this coming Saturday and it was around 18 months since she first gr diagnosed to the end also. I completely understand how you’re feeling and it is a journey. It is still raw for me and I do feel that I am not the same person as I was before. You have someone in your corner xxx
