Been a mechanic for 30 years. Ask me how many transmissions ive seen that had a failed transmission park mechanism? That answer would be zero.

I do this sequence. 1. Stop car using the Brake pedal 2. Put car into Neutral 3. Engage Parking brake (hand brake) 4. Release Brake pedal 5. Lastly put car into Park done

You have it wrong: apply brake, put in neutral, let go of break, let car get rid pressure on transmission, reapply brakes, put in park and pull hand brake then let go of break.

Why is park even a feature then? Why not just put it in neutral then set the parking brake. Thats what your parking gear is designed to do it is specifically designed to carry the weight of the vehicle
