I’m a teacher and can write a thesis on this topic. Education in SA needs an unshackling that our govt isn’t willing to support. God give me the strength to one day run a black excellence academy

Another thing about private schools is that teachers are forced to pass learners because their parents are paying a lot of money. Their report is not truly a reflection their progress

Thoko Ngwenya :
To me it’s not an issue of public vs private schools as many people are trying to make it in the comments. It’s about school Ethos. Newer private schools like Curro, Crawford, Steyn City School are still developing and strengthening their ethos and culture, which will take a while because many of them are non-denominational (not founded on a specific religion or culture). Whereas the legacy schools like St David (Catholic), Sageti (Greek Orthodox), St John’s (Anglican) are premised on strong religious foundation and have been around for much longer and so they have had time to refine their ethos. His family was just misaligned with the values of Steyn City School. It has nothing to do with private vs public (although that is a separate but useful debate).

I don’t think it’s private school but he took them to a traditional heritage boys school. I have no boy children but believe boys need old heritage boys schools. The culture is unmatched

I totally agree. The other thing that I noticed was that private schools don't have a school sporting system. The other thing is the home language issue and the fact that they treat themselves kids with kid gloves.
