@sachistorymuseum: November 1st and 2nd is Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). It is an important Mexican and Central American celebration that consists of elements from ancient Mesoamerican cultures and Catholic influence. It is a festival to welcome the souls of loved ones who have passed away. In Hispanic culture, it is believed that during this time souls visit the world of the living, so altars are prepared with offerings in honor of loved ones at home and/or at the gravesites of the deceased. At the Sacramento History Museum, in partnership with community arts group La Raza Galeria Posada (LRGP), we have a temporary exhibition titled, RCAF in Mictlán: 50th Anniversary of Día de los Muertos. The specially curated and culturally significant exhibition about Sacramento’s first Dia de los Muertos in 1975 and the involvement by the Royal Chicano Air Force will be on display in the R. Burnett and Mimi Glide Miller Gallery at the Museum NOW through April 5, 2026. In this video, Alex discusses our temporary exhibition at the Sacramento History Museum. #SacHistoryMuseum #DiaDeLosMuertos #dayofthedead #museum #sacramento
