I saw a disabled creator a while ago that made the connection that Claudia’s character is also a metaphor to how disabled people are infantilized while being full grown adults. These are not the twilight vampires that are frozen mentally. That’s what makes it tragic. Claudia was never truly frozen, she is a grown woman.

claudia is literally significantly older than Madeline and Madeline gets to know her as a person before even becoming attracted to her. their romantic chemistry starts after Claudia tells her that her growth was stunted in the war and that she's an adult. meanwhile Madeline is probably early twenties, it's not that far off for her to assume Claudia was her own age

Yes she’s physically a 14-15 year old but mentally she is like 50 years old . Like if she wasn’t bitten she would be in her 40s-50s. She even did a speech to the theater of how she’s a powerful something year old vampire trapped in a little girls body

in the books Claudia is 5 when she is turned. she lives for several decades trapped in the body of a child. Louis says to Madeline "Isthis what you believe her to be, a doll?" Madeline replies " A child who cannot die, that is what she is" Madeline is also grieving the death of her own child. Claudia sought Madeline knowing Louis was going to abandon her for Armand.

and in the show i feel like if we really took time to have Armand or show Armand's passed with Marius and highlight that he was only turned at 18/19. You could agrue that Armand too is an eternal child but one who actually came to be through an age of grooming and s*xual abuse. So he constantly lives in those cycles of abuse because it was his reality.

Another thing that people forget, and Lestat reminds us of this during the trial, is that the worst thing for a vampire to be is lonely. Claudia has been lonely almost all of her vampire life. She deserved to have a companion that genuinely cared about her. And didn’t Madeline know her for something like 3 years?

And Madeleine as attracted to that body. She didn’t suddenly find her attractive once she knew she was an adult in her brain. She was attracted TO A CHILD. And she knew it was wrong. Thats why when Armand told her she would be a monster once she was turned, she said she was already one.

Its just different because in the show she is obviously older where as in the book she has the body of a five year old however there was never really a romantic connection when madeleine became a vampire
