🚨 Illinois Man Arrested After Armed Standoff at SPI Hotel 🚨 An Illinois man is facing multiple charges after barricading himself inside a hotel room at Margaritaville Beach Resort on South Padre Island Sunday evening. Police say Fernando Martinez Henize, from Naperville, Illinois, locked himself in a room with a firearm after a disturbance around 6 p.m. According to SPI PD, officers and hotel staff tried to calm things down, but the situation turned into an hours-long standoff. After “intense de-escalation efforts,” Henize was eventually taken into custody. He’s now facing several charges including aggravated assault, assault on public servants, and family violence with his bond set at $640,485. Cameron County SWAT and other agencies helped SPI police during the incident.
