You’ll find massive brown bears, turquoise lakes, towering mountains and glaciers 🛩️ There are several ways to explore the park and see bears, from guided floatplane tours to multi-day wilderness trips. Whether by air, boat, or on foot, the park is remote, wild, and completely uncrowded. 🐻 One of the most accessible ways to see bears up close is via Crescent Lake. We joined a tour with River Rock Outdoors, flew straight into the park, landed on the lake, and cruised along the shorelines in a small boat. The bears were completely wild but used to boats, giving us an incredible view of them fishing, playing, and moving freely in their natural habitat. 🧭 Tours last around 4–5 hours and are guided by experienced pilots and tour guides. It’s a peaceful, quiet experience with no boardwalks, no fences, just you, the lake, and the bears. 💰 These type of tours are expensive, they range anywhere from 700 to 1300 per person depending on the company. On thing I discovered during my time in Alaska is that if you’re flexible with your time, you can ask most companies about last-minute standby seats and save hundreds of dollars. They will call you 2 hours before the tour if they have any free spots and they will give you a discounted rate. We’ve been lucky enough to explore so many wild places in the US, but this one easily makes the bucket list.
