Thailand is starting to change their ways with this. I visited an elephant sanctuary when I was there where we got to go for a walk alongside them. They were given praise and treats in exchange for doing simple tricks like high fives with their trunks. They had formed bonds with their trainers based on mutual love and respect. They are the most incredible creatures and I miss being around them every day. ❤

People don't care, visited Thailand a couple of years ago with my mom (not my choice really ) and we refused to ride the elephants, the rest of the group did. even tho they saw the sharp sticks they had to beat them and got lied to our faces tried to tell them but they were like "SuCh a CUtE RelAtiOnShIp" there was a poor baby elephants chained, it grabbed my arm for comfort, strongly but didn't hurt me and let me go. like seriously

Thank you for spreading awareness! Lots of people really don't know how the elephant have suffered so much because of this. Although Elephant is a symbol in those countries, they shouldn't treat Elephant as money maker or tool for them. Elephant also important to balance the nature. If this keep going, the Elephant species might be.. extinct too. Same like the Rhinos who keep being hunted by illegal hunter and more

Nowadays, no one in Thailand captures elephants from the wild. Most elephants you see in zoos or conservation centers were born there and when they opened their eyes, they saw people. Capturing wild elephants is against the law in Thailand, and wild elephants are fierce.

I don't know what kind of elephant you met or what country it is in. But in Thailand, elephants are believed to be sacred. Therefore, Thai people take good care of their elephants. They do not chain them unless they are in musth. Simple gestures like waving their trunk or whatever, they are rewarded with food and treats every time. And elephants in Thailand have been raised by humans since the war and have been passed down like inherited property. It's like the horse that has been used since the time of war and that humans still use to ride today. Maybe you could try searching on TikTok for information about Thai elephants. In Thailand, if the elephant owner cannot continue raising them, they will give them to the national park to continue caring for them in the wild.
