The main reason for US intervention in Afghanistan was for many pay back for the Russians support the NVA in Vietnam. Iraq also had WMDs and they were found....the caveat however was that those weapons were previously identified by weapons inspectors or expired to the point of no value. You're also skipping over critical details about the Syrian Civil War and how IS was formed.
