Many think that when they voted no during the referendum, that it was a no to anything related to FNP. It confirms that many didn’t know what they were voting on back then and that they don’t see the gaps.

Apartheid is maybe a strong term. But as a South African expat who lived through apartheid, I understand the psychological effects that go far beyond any legal definition. When a government introduces legislation that seems to favour one group based on race, people naturally see it as “us versus them.” The Vic Government pushed this through Parliament with almost no wider public discussion - what did they think would happen? Now many view it as a kind of psychological apartheid, creating emotional division.
