If they can afford it it’s their choice they’ve paid in all their lives

I mean what you have described is £2000 divide that over 12 months is £166 a month... is it really a luxurious to have a spare £166 a month?

a lot of grandparents don't buy expensive iphones, designer clothes expensive holidays expensive coffees, they have had a lifetime of saving, spending wisely, living within their means in the hope they can help their younger family, are you doing the same.

27% of pensioners are millionaires. Millions more, the vast majority, have excellent occupational/works/private pensions. Together they keep the cruise industry going. 2 million rely on tge State pension but many are eligible for rent allowane, council tax support. Health issues? Attendance allowance and pension credits. All tax free. Im more concerned about young families.

I'm not sure I understand your point. I would say that most people who've worked all their life should be able to afford gifts, a yearly holiday, meals out, takeaways and new clothes

I think if they are giving away that amount of money to help others they are probably living a very frugal lifestyle themselves.

Moderate is vague phrase imo. That sounds lavish to me but again all their points are probably taken from the average action of people and as we know averages gets skewed by higher earners etc.

My grandmother gets about £20k a year in total from pensions but because her house is paid off the money just piles up, literally cannot spend it fast enough. I think Pensions UK is extremely out of touch.

Pensioner here with 9 grandchildren. £360 for gifts, no money to help out family and no donations to charity. No holidays either!

So that goes towards the younger generation, if you can afford to go out most weekends, spends money on gigs , going to football or other sports , buy gifts for family , birthdays and Christmas, and goes on holiday all in the same year then I think your not doing too bad ,

If they can afford that, it’s ok…I’m a grandmother of 4 but I cannot afford that. My children know I give what I can.

Right let's get one thing clear, we all lead different lives, some better than others. Are you saying that all youngsters are all earning the same wages now, same opportunities, intelligence? no we all walk different paths nothing changes so there will still be well off pensioners and not so well off ones even when you reach old age!

That's what it should be but if you're comparing to most, then it's probably more than modest

Theres all sorts of pensioners out there who retired with different financial abilities. There are those that chose to socialise every weekend and spent there money on holidays basically living life to the full, then struggle when the wages stop. There are those that lived a more sedate life, enjoying a meal out now and again and an occasional holiday. They put away savings in the bank or a pension fund anticipating their future pensioner years. There are of course those that have had the benefits of a secure well paid job and they have every right to spend the money theyve accrued. Why should anyone work all their lives, pay taxes and NI only for some Chancellor to take some of it away. The younger generation need to learn to live within their means just like their parents and grandparents have had to do. When I got married, the tax rate was 30% and VAT was 15%. I also had to pay into a superannuation scheme which I am now benefiting from.
