I went out and met someone from my past yesterday after nearly a decade, someone who knew the old version of me. And instead of pretending nothing had changed, she brought up my growth before I even said a word. That almost never happens. Most people don’t like to acknowledge your evolution, because when you grow, it highlights where they’re still stuck. I’ve tried reconnecting with old friends over the years, and you realise very quickly that once you’ve grown, you’re no longer aligned with them. And that’s okay but it’s also sad. I’ve lost almost every friendships that way. Not because I changed “too much”, but because they didn’t want to see it. They preferred the smaller version of me, the version they were comfortable with, the version that didn’t challenge who they still are. Some people want to keep you in that old chapter because it fits their needs. Because if you grow, they’re forced to confront the fact that they haven’t. And when you can no longer meet them at that level, the friendship falls away. I’ve seen it happen again and again. But last night felt different. She saw my growth and instantly wanted to talk about it. She was proud of me. She said it out loud without shrinking, without competition, without discomfort. She was genuinely happy for who I’ve become. And moments like that remind you how rare it is… because not many people are happy to see you grow. Some want to keep you small because it serves them. But the right people will celebrate the woman you’ve evolved into. 💫 #growth #friendship #HealingJourney #40plus #womenover45
