Try using Plex outside your home network. If you can afford it, go for it! Plex is great for local streaming.

Plex relies on a constant internet connection where Jellyfin does not and Jellyfin will continue to work when your internet is down

I've been running Plex for 10 years now with a Plex pass lifetime membership. it's the best. I haven't even looked at jellyfin as I doubt my TV has a decent app for it. my Plex just works.

Plex is good if your happy with it just stick with it, there’s a huge community around it. I have a lifetime plex pass, bought it 5 years ago and it’s been super worth it. I find plex to be the most easily adoptable app for my normie users

I run jellyfin but its still developing. plex seems solid too. if you wanna try jellyfin either go with an older version or give it another year to develop

Plex is trying new to things and while I'm cool with that. it's getting forced onto me and starting to get irritating. I bought a lifetime pass just to watch MY LIBRARY. I appreciate the offer to watch even the free content they have. but I just want MY movies.

Hear me out, I use plex every day. I still run jellyfin as a back up because it’s free 🤷♂️in my experience it spends more time buffering tho

Jellyfin doesn’t require a paid pass for hardware acceleration. It’s open source. It has better community support

Plex is good, but it’s been getting worse. It’s bloated, you have to pay for plex pass if you want to transcode or use their mobile app. They default to shoving non-local content down your throat (you can disable this). End of the day, plex is getting worse, jellyfin is getting better.
