Our manifestation worked! Yesterday, my class had the chance to hear from THE Ari Kytsya (@Ari Kytsya), someone who understandably sparks mixed reactions, but whose voice and lived experience are essential in any honest conversation about sexuality, labor, and the realities of today’s digital landscape. She spoke with refreshing honesty about the work behind her immense success. It took her years of effort, strategy, and emotional labor to build what she has today, and she’s been scammed along the way, just like many others in the industry. Her advice to anyone considering it? Only do it if there is truly nothing else you want to do, because once your content is out there, it will follow you. 👀⚠️ Later, Ari explained how she sees her work as fundamentally different from the mainstream 🎬🔞. Much of commercial “🌽” still portrays women in unrealistic, scripted, and at times even non-consensual scenarios. OF, by contrast, often features real people with real bodies creating content on their own terms. She also talked openly about her relationship with Yung Gravy, describing a partnership built on love, autonomy, and a commitment to constant, honest conversation. Hearing her talk about how they communicate and navigate their public lives together was definitely a highlight for the room. 🥰❤️ I’m SO grateful she shared her story with my students. Conversations like this expand empathy, challenge assumptions, and remind us that sexuality, relationships, and labor are always more complex, human, and nuanced than the stereotypes we inherit. Hearing her speak made it clear just how much courage it takes to build a career so publicly, and how much she’s shaped conversations far beyond her own platform. Ari, thank you for joining us! #ProfessorsofTikTok #UniversityofWashington #UDUB #AriKytsya
