@keairyagynene: Youth sports should be fun and educational, I really hate when I’m not modeling that… but I do not feel bad about maintaining my boundaries for my babies! #KeAiryaGynene #milso #Alaska #youthsports

I would have ignored the coach but made sure the daughter understood that I supported her and her decision (if you do). We played Hockey, mine was significantly smaller than all the other players. The opposition coach told our coach (in front of me/us) "That #7 is dirty!" our coach waited for a reaction from us and we had none. That was the day our coach realized that if he wanted something done (an enforcer) that we wouldn't object, provided no one was actually hurt. And I liked players that straddled that line, Dennis Rodman, Bill Romanoski (sp) etc. players with a little dirt under their nails. Just walk away... then tell her she may have gotten a foul but she did nothing wrong in the situation.

👏👏👏👏 that's exactly how you handle that. You protected your player and more importantly your daughter. I agree that both players should have been corrected not just one, and since your player was singled out, you're correct in standing up for her. she was pushed first and was just giving back what the girl gave her. at that point the referee should have said something (to both players) not the other coach.

As someone who just played, never coached, you were right. Either all behavior is corrected or none. That’s what keeps people safe

Idk that I’d be kind haha. Doesn’t matter how big your kid is, if another kid starts it both need to be addressed or leave it to the individual coach to handle it. We’re not singling out the one who responds to the “attack”.

You handled it so well. Better than I would’ve because I’m too hot headed I feel so bad for my boys once they are old enough to play cause bayyybbbbyyy treat every the same and respectful or imma be your worst nightmare. Also a mama knows and sees everything which you did. 🤍

You did Mitch better than I would have…I think the other coach would have had my two hands on him and I would have said, “What? You think two hands on somebody is ok. Especially when one person is smaller!” I am assuming the other coach was bigger than you. You showed your team one, it is not acceptable to put hands on anyone, even if you are smaller, two, you don’t have to accept it if you are bigger, three, play is not always fair, but if one is getting called out. Both need to be called out. That other coach was way out of line and you handled it the best you could in that instance! Well done coach/mama!!

You handled it the same way I would have. I’m not kind to those who aren’t kind… That’s just not a reality I live in. Ethnicity and sports setting aside, I’m alwaysss gonna have issues (regardless of the situation) when someone makes the decision to be disrespectful in tone or body language. I don’t think you mishandled the situation, I just think it’s unfortunate it happened in front of a crowd. But, it is what it is.
