Jernise feels extremely forced. They wanted to get Jere out of the way so they threw him together with only other single character on the show. Which came off as just plain lazy writing. They could've just left Jere alone to be single than to push him together with Denise.

I truly believe that Jeremiah and Denise being thrown in there was supposed to show the audience that Jere can love again and be happy . I do think that they're cute , the build up is just non-existent .

What I was hoping was that Jeremiah was going to end up in Paris and study to become a chef, since it’s what he enjoys he’s happy doing it it could have also lead to him and belly having closure either moving past the other events or the two finding their way but I think that would have been a good thing for Jer or he meets someone in Paris and ends up happy with someone else

It’s so not narratively earned. That’s my biggest issue with it. I hope it’s not true end game. It just isn’t feasible or make sense. He’s gonna throw away being up and coming chef in Boston to go to California where he has no connections?? Yeah don’t think. Denise is too smart to pursue a relationship with him at this stage. I just want them to stay bff 😭

I love them the more I write for them and rewatch. It’s a shame we didn’t get more drawn out / detailed scenes. I get the frustration though for sure. But I do think they have really good chemistry and I think that if Sarah writes for Jeremiah, then we might get a really good story for him that will feel earned

I’ve personally chosen to charitably assume that the writers didn’t mean for this Jere & Denise thing to be interpreted as Jeremiah’s actual endgame, and it was just there to show an openness on Jeremiah’s part to be in another serious relationship after Belly in general. But after the way they did the Bonrad endgame, I’m most likely being too nice😭😭😭

I actually love Jere and Denise together. I don’t think her role was to shape him up per say I think the circumstances of his dad cutting him off set that in motion (being around her and seeing her go hard for her career helped him do the same but that’s all she did). I don’t like that we didn’t have enough access to them during the 6 months of them staying together. I think soo much happened that paved the way to that kitchen counter top scene we just didn’t see it. They wasted time on the wedding we knew was not going to happen when they could have given us more time with everyone post failed wedding. I think that Jere does have a long way to go in terms of healing but I don’t think it’s wild for him to want to start something with someone else. It’s almost 1 year considering that him and Denise kiss in the next summer after the wedding. I think I like this better than having him be hung up on Belly. It’s never going to be normal between him and Belly so we can’t expect him to kind of wait on Belly so they can have one final Goobye before he moves on while Belly gets to move on with Conrad. Jere needs to be Free and I think he can have his freedom and also start something with Denise.

Having Jeremiah end up with Denise is Jenny‘s way to take away sympathy from Jeremiah. Because the audience will be like oh well at least he found someone he’s happy, or it’s not that bad it all worked out, he doesn’t care enough really see he moved on, or belly and Conrad can be happy now because they feel less guilty about Jeremiah.

Everything, absolutely everything about this final season is disappointing. And now the media is portraying Conrad as the biggest green flag that has ever existed on this planet.😆 I was still so sad and disappointed.☹️The production took every easy route to make Conrad win. And the story between Steven and Denise ended far too abruptly. It was just unnecessary to create a little romance between them. Lazy writing once again.

denise is one of my favourite characters and it was nice to see more of her friendship with jeremiah. the issue i had was even just before they kiss, jeremiah talks about never being alone and how it’ll be good for him to experience that but to then follow it up with him getting with denise made no sense to me. they do have chemistry but it would’ve been nicer to see him heal on his own after everything.

I thought they were actually pretty cute together she was exactly the kind of best friend Jere needed who supported him and wasn’t on the Conrad train but I don’t think they needed to be together I would’ve liked him to have time on his own and maybe in the movie being with Denise instead after having time.

My guess is the following: that little kiss and holding hands was a declaration of intentions, like acknowledging they like eachother but they will leave it at that for now, she will move to California and he will stay in Boston continuing his healing and growing, facing Belly and Conrad again and just knowing himself, and maybe at some point, when his process is completed, they will reunite ...or not

Denise was better suited to Steven. There is no chemistry between her and Jeremiah. It felt awkward and so forced. You can clearly still see Jeremiah is sad and unhappy.
