Ironically this family guy episode is the where i realized i hated Brian so much as a character. He has seen what Meg goes through and said “oh well them hating on you brings the family together” that shouldn’t even be her responsibility she 16-18 (depending on what episode you watch) the family falling apart shouldn’t be on her.

Ok, but hear me out, I think the Brian part was Family Guy still trying to get an award. It is so layered and so intense compared to how Family Guy normally is. (The decent into saltiness over no awards is a fun joke later on)

this was a great way to show the different writing styles each show has. Family Guy's was full of nothing until we get to the Meg plot about 8 minutes in. As usual, the story starts as one thing and then ends up in a different place with a bad moral at the end. The B plot could've been taken out and it wouldn't have been missed. The Cleveland Show kind of had the same thing of starting out as nothing until 8 minutes where the plot moves forward. We see how this style is similar to Family Guy's except we cut out the B plot and change Cleveland Jr's role and don't tell him he's in the wrong for his feelings (it echos how I go about dealing with religious people. Just saying "I'm out"). Something was gained there in a slight way that Family Guy rarely does. American Dad had the plot going from the start to finish. It challenged Stan, yeah, but was overall silly and kind of THE event of it all. The Cleveland Show's writing gave us copycat Family Guy but with heart and focus. American Dad gave us a fun spectacle along with Stan's journey in that episode. Family Guy gave us one great scene but made it all worthless in the end and ruined multiple characters who were already bad from the start. What makes it worse is that I knew people in school who would tell you that Family Guy was the best show out of all of them. Told me the episode where Quagmire married an old lady was better than the episode of American Dad where it was a play.
