international aid is the burden placed on the wealthy countries by their perpetuation of global capitalism. Global capitalism exacerbates global poverty, then the companies pour the bill back onto their own governments (the west). Now, in the end it really has no effect, either in weakening the west’s economic strangehold, nor in actually achieving change in the global south (unequal exchange theories)— in the end it is neither good nor bad, and just a meaningless ritual of virtue.
