I think you may have just had a “bad” troop. I was a girl scout and every week we learned different things and would volunteer at various places (an animal shelter and food kitchen comes to mind). Cookie season was just a tiny part of the grand scheme of it and we only did it for the prizes

It depends on who your troop leader is. my mom was my troop leader, and we did community service, engineering classes, stem classes, then we saved our money for a few years and the moms and kids went on a cruise:)

What did your troop do with the money you earned?? We went on big camping trips every year!! We also as a group looked at what we made, how much our patches and activities to earn them would cost as well as budgeting for our trips.. we all set a goal to earn money from cookies and the only thing my parents paid for were the uniform. And as a girls scout leader I ran my troop the same way. It was very clear what we earned and where our money went

my mom was a girl scout troop leader and she let the kids pick out was skills they wanted to learn and the money they earned went to an activity they rlly wanted to do and they sponsored angel trees each year!

We went to medieval times. It was great. I also did learn a lot of skills. I think that all depends on who your troop leader is. Mine prioritized life skills, STEM, and internet safety. We spent multiple weeks doing all of that. We also used some of our troop money to help renovate and we helped paint our schools playground.

We literally got to go so many places including Spain and France. But I was also a girl scout through high school.

As a former Girl Scouts it all depends on your troop. I loved it as a kid bc my troop actually did things and it was fun

My troop did a lot of different activities for badges. We also got to use our cookie money to go to Disneyland, go camping, and staying overnight at the zoo. I think it is just really dependent on where your troop is located and who is running it.

I thought my troop was bad (it was a cult), but at least we had a ton of field trips. We went camping multiple times, a police station, we had a fireman speak (though that’s cause he was my uncle, so we had a connection), we did a ton of badges, and we’d make slime and stuff. I can’t imagine how much it would suck to only sell cookies. That was like the worst part. (Also cause me and some friends who left are like 90% the troop leaders were taking our cookie sales to give to their kid).

My troop went on a weekend trip to St. Louis. It was so fun! I dont think we used our cookie funds. but then again, I was 8
