I’m a neuroscience student. I just spent the last 6 months on aphasia like this. It’s so good that you’re talking with him and keeping it light. This can be so frustrating. 🌸

the phrases he is repeating after me are ones weve worked on for hours and hours and hours by the way! you have to get that part down first...he can't just repeat anything ok the spot unless weve worked on it prior

I get aphasia during migraines. First one I ever had I was watching a British tv show and just thought I didn't understand their accents. 😭

He’s extremely patient. If it were anybody else they’d turn hostile in seconds trying to fight their own mind. What an amazing man.

He seems super clear when singing the repeated words. Can he “sing” his thoughts?

Crying watching you. This is my exact lived experience. I’ve had 31 years of doing this exact thing with my dad. His accident happened when I was 9 months old, so this is the version of my dad I’ve always known. My mom said he and I learned how to be humans together after his accident. Walked at the se time, learned to talk at the same time, and re-learned how to read at the same time.
