So what does Carney say to Canadians right now who can’t afford a home, are struggling to start a family, have been laid off, or can barely afford groceries because it’s so expensive? “Please wait 4–5 years for our investment to pay off”? That might sound nice in theory, but talking about investments in the distant future doesn’t help anyone today. I’ve seen on the news a senior who should be enjoying retirement sleeping in his car, and another woman crying on a radio show because she couldn’t afford to live anymore while her husband was in hospice. You see people living in tents in parks—in Canada. Since when did this become acceptable? The more we make excuses for the government—whether municipal, provincial, or federal—just because it favors our side, the less we hold them accountable. And that’s exactly what Canadians should be doing.
