I remember at age 7, mom said if you do good, you get good. I was in year 6 of sister abuse. I knew it was a lie. if I had believed her, I'd be looking back with resentment at a life of constant disappointment in others.

The ideea of not taking things personally has disagreed with me my whole life. If something or someone has an impact on my life or on me as a human being, it is personal. May not be personal to them, but to me it is. Eg. A person hurts me, I have to deal with that. They didn’t care they would hurt me, it is not personal to them, but to me, having to deal with the consequences of their actions, it is very much personal.
