If you pay close attention, you can see that happen with this patient here This is a classic sign of a trigger point along with the presence of a taut muscle band and referred pain. (Trigger points can manifest as a taught band, it’s not always just a singular knot) The increased acidity and irritation of the muscle fibers stimulates pain receptors, which trigger the pain reflex that results in the "jump sign".
