I like this show but it pisses me off so much with the inaccuracies of where stuff is in Fairbanks. This episode especially. There is literally a whole ass university at Farmers Loop and College, not woods.

Apple TV’s The Last Frontier detonates the modest expectations you might bring to a manhunt thriller and replaces them with something far more nervy, intricate, and alive. What could have been a straight-line survival drama instead unfolds as a braided epic: every episode splits off into its own micro-thriller, each detour revealing a new moral compromise, a fresh betrayal, or a heartbreaking secret. The result is television that insists you pay attention — not because it’s flashy, but because its plotting is audacious and humane.
Episode 6 is the season’s pivot and a masterclass in tension and mise-en-scène. The safe deposit box set-piece is not a stunt — it’s an emotional fulcrum. The way the show stages the slow, clinical unlocking of secrets, the close-ups on hands and eyes, and the mounting silence before the reveal is cinematic storytelling at its most precise. It reframes everything we thought we knew about motive and loyalty and leaves the viewer reorienting themselves halfway through the season. That sequence alone exemplifies the series’ ability to turn procedure into poetry.
Episode 6’s safe deposit box plot demonstrate real craft, the show is a rare television experience: propulsive and profound. If you want a thriller that keeps reinventing itself and still manages to make every twist land emotionally, this is one of the best offerings on streaming right now.
