Thank you so much for addressing this. It shouldn’t be this difficult. It is this straight forward and easy. You can know each other the halal way before getting married, it’s called engagement. The engagement period is when both people get to know each other. If it doesn’t work out, no one loses anything on either side. No one is saying rush to get married without knowing the person.

The answer is that you're missing the whole shinny part promoted and glorified by the movies. Dating doesn't help with getting to know each other, in the west even though they can live together they still have high divorce rate. It's just an excuse to delay marriage and turn it into temporary relationships where you can settle with someone you wouldn't pick as a spouse.
