my mom was taking my brother to archery one day and stopped at starbucks and asked if we wanted to move, all of us said yes so she took us home and we moved 8 hours away, he still hasn’t found us and that was back in 2021😩

My mum did similar, my dad was out at work oneday and she packed everything up, gave away our budgies and guinea pigs to the school (assuming they where in on it) and drove us to this place, im assuming something like a refugee camp? Cuz there was other famils and we all shared a kitchen or we where at this otherone that had a park inside idk, then me and my sister decided (my dad convince us) we wanted to go with my dad

My mom was taking us to school when she stopped at anred light and asked my brothers and i if we wanted to live in florida. As soon as we said yes she took us home, packed up the car and off to florida we went. My dad didnt notice until the following day when we were already at my auntys lol

My mom did this but kind of the opposite? She left the state with us in the middle of the night (like toddler age) and left my dad and dad’s entire side of the family. Turns out she was the abusive one and I found out the hard way. I met my dad when I was 21.

2019, my mom was done. She got a restraining order first. She left for work that day and came home early, she called my grandma and looked at my brother and I and she said “pack some clothes and some important belongings” we left that day. It’s been years, the anxiety we felt, the panic attacks, the nightmares we dealt with, but for the first time in years we were free. It’s been 6 years and I’m thankful everyday my grandma was there and my mom got us out.

The SAFEST way to leave is silently and strategically. I was a child, so I had the excuse of college to leave. Left in 2019 and I cut contact in ~2021. It's not that simple if you're the parent though. . You're more likely to die when you try to leave. It's literally safer to stay in active abuse than it is to leave it. It's safer to be obedient in the abuse, which is why sometimes victims will walk toward their abuser who is holding a weapon toward them because they know if they run, then their abuser WILL use it, but if they don't, then the abuser will be less likely to. . I really wish people did more research on abuse and how it impacts the cognitive functions.. it could happen to anyone.

left almost 6 months ago while he was at work. packed up me and my daughters whole life in 2 hours and drove 8+ hours back to my home state. found out 3 weeks later i was pregnant again. you do what you gotta do to survive.

My mom carried me and had two dogs and literally did the same thing, while dad was gone she escaped and ran through the fields and forest with me and our dogs because of how abusive my dad was. We were in Alabama at that time, we live in Indiana now and yes we still live with her parents but we’re getting on our feet

I had to do this with my son. As soon as his dad went fishing I dumped as much as I could into pillowcases and fled. 12 years later, life is a lot better. 💕
