@mrs.stolzandstripes: If you can get over the 1 year they are gone ever 4-5 years (normally) then home life isn’t always bad. My husband picked a military MOS that has an amazing life balance and is better than most “civilian” jobs. Just pick your job wisely and military life can actually be so nice! Not to mention his MOS and unit he’s with gets all holidays and family days off 👌✨ #fyp #foryou #milso #militarylife #mos
That’s so awesome your husband has had this experience. Just as a reminder to all the spouses reading this feeling discouraged because there spouse works crazy hours, never has a holiday off, or is consistently away from home it is okay for it to be difficult. Not everyone has a choice in MOS! We still need MP’s, security forces, pilots, maintainers, and other MOS’s! Once again so happy for your family, but I thought I’d throw that out there!

I was the Navy’s equivalent to AGR and it was amazing I had a Monday- Friday 8am-5pm unless I had duty. We were able to telework . Also it we did PT aside from command PT we were able to come in 1 hour later .

My husband was the commander of recruiting for 3y. It was the BEST. He was home and off early and days off constantly. Unfortunately all good things must come to a end, we pcsed. So it's back to the "real" army. He has 24h duty on the 11th :(

I think it’s about what you make of it- many jobs aren’t good for family life

That's awesome. I remember when my husband worked 8-5 and was home for dinner. Now it's school drop off and late nights.. it'll get better I know, just depends on the unit.

Yup! The higher we are in rank then easier is it to manage schedules tbh, it’s def a well deserved perk! Plus you’re right, MOS has lots to do w it, my husband is now a warrant officer and I stayed enlisted, best of both worlds and he has way more leeway than I do , and it’s awesome. Besides regular army bs , I wouldn’t change it
